iPad just a bigger iPhone?

Apple iPad - Images courtesy of apple.com

Apples newest toy the iPad was leaked early the other day and now apple have officially  released it but is it just another iPhone but bigger and just a little smarter? while looking through apples new release i was surprised to see what looked to be the functions of a iPhone (i own the apple iPhone) and it looks like the same formats and apps but just a bigger screen with a Mac osx stuff inside with the same amount of storage (plus a little extra) 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and a 1Ghz processor and wifi, bluetooth technology built-in and for a bit more dough you can get 3g model which will make this just like the iPhone just a little more expensive, price ranges from $549(16Gb) to $776(64Gb) for the basic wifi or $698(16Gb) to $920(64Gb) for the wifi + 3G model. The iPad isn't like a iPhone that you can slip into your back pocket the iPad is 240mm x 190mm and weighs little more then half a kilo. I think apple have took a step backwards if they are trying to improve there products, mobile phones, computers and cameras are getting smaller each day but apple have up-sized there latest product which doesnt make sense as the iPhone is smaller and does just about the same maybe more, in my opinion the iPad is just iPhone just bigger. If the iPad has the same resctrictions as the iPhone has and cannot load outside software only the apple stores apps then i see this apples biggest failure since the ipod's that felt like bricks.

I haven't use the iPad myself so don't know it's advantages and disadvantages if someone who has one or is getting one feel free to write a piece on it. I'm sure ill get some negative feedback from bagging out apple but every company has a bung product take windows vista for example, i'm not saying apple has screwed up totally but i think they took a step back with this one, i don't see every home owner having one of these as a PC or Mac but it could be used as a digital slide show for people walking into your home.
Knowing apples past history letting Australia having there items i'm sure we wont see the iPad on Australian shores for few months even longer, if there is anyone out there who knows when it will happen please let me know I'm very interested in the turn out of the launch.

Thanks for reading Techwiz :)

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 – Xbox360

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

I have never been really interested in the Call Of Duty series but this one has got me hooked with its mind blowing misson and massive online multiplayer community via Xbox live, the missons include general war scenes to terrorist members causing chaos in citys and other maps, the mission side of the game has you swapping from good guy to a bad ass terrorist with heart pumping action that will have you on the edge of your seats from start to finish with a storyline that makes you fight for your life in the game. There are many levels that very violent and could be taken offence too so this game isnt for young children ( or anyone for that matter. ) but other then the detailed violence and awesome graphics this is one of the games you can always play over and over, if you liked the other games in the COD range you will certainly like this one.

Single player maybe satisfying for some if you want the ultimate rush of shoot em ups then head over to xbox live and you will certainly enjoy the massive online gathering of COD buffs.
Online multiplayer also has a unlocks which will let you unlock guns, perks, equipment and camouflage for different levels, multiplayer has a range of levels that are randomly picked these levels include snow, sand, citys and blocks of land with lots of places to run around and hide. The muliplayer also has death and kill streaks which allows you to use a special feature once hit a a certain kill or death in a row eg. 3 kills will earn you UAV and 3 deaths will earn you Final stand (which allows you to have one last shot(s) before dying and respawning). For the hardcore gamers that get up to 25 kills that will earn you a nuclear attack thats wipes everyone on the match, aswell as other milestones which will give helicopters, planes, air strikes and others that you have total control over.
price: $99
Infinity ward have also made a throat communicator which allows you to talk when shooting up the streets or bushes without being in the way. I have used the throat communicator and works very well but is essentially just a mic in fancy plastic.codmic

Overall this game is one of the most thrilling and exciting games out there today and cant wait what infinity ward will come up with next.

First Review – The WD My Book Essential external hard drive 1.5TB!

WDMYBOOKESSENTIAL1.5TB

WDMYBOOKESSENTIAL1.5TB

Western Digital have really done well on there external hard drive range, the older external drives were slow and useless for transferring and backing up but this one is a cut above the rest with software that will allow any file within the backup directories to be automatically transferred without having to be prompted it will backup a file if it has been changed or edited, parts of the software are a little troubling to start off but allows you to transfer within Windows as simple as drag and drop like its a connected drive. The software also allows users to setup a password to protect the content within the huge 1.5TB hdd, another handy function is the illuminated capacity gauge on the front of the device which will allow users to visually see how full there external hard drive is without opening the WD Smartware software to check how much space is free, there are 4 lights that will show how much the drive is full(i have only got my WD Mybook up to the first light indicating that i have only used less then 50GB(7%) of the drive).

The size of the unit is tiny! (as wide as a normal tv controller and as deep as a book) , the unit is silent you cant hear one noise out of this unit, the unit is covered in grate like pattern along the top and back to provide very smooth and efficient airflow.

The unit also has a power on/off button on the rear of the unit if user wanted to turn unit off when not in use, unit works well still if left on for over a month and doesnt overheat to much. Also support USB2.0 and comes with a 3year warranty.
This is a awsome little hard drive for the novice movie collector or gamer. Priced at $199*
